Bannisters Pavilion is so overpriced!
- Rooms are well below average.
- Very loud. Can here street noise and outside
- Pool is tiny.
- Your view is directed at houses and the street. Pictures are so deceitful
- Very Limited parking. Not convenient
- A lot of maintenance needed. Place looks tired
- Receptionist not helpful or friendly.
I ignored two friends warnings about their terrible experiences at Banisters. I dismissed both of them and was sold by the pictures on Bannisters socials and website. The photographer should get an award.
This place is nice and staff is friendly. But speaking to a lot of the other guests up from Sydney we had similar reservations:
- If you are on level 2 - you hear the noise of chairs sliding and people walking above you on the roof top from around 6am and up until 10pm. It's quite annoying
- The food is nice but expensive, same as the drinks.
- The upper deck is an amazing concept for adults, but its not manned and we had to ask staff to put cushions on the day beds for us. I think it would be a nice escape for couples to get away from the families down stairs if they cared more about it.
- The WiFi is terrible and not much better than the service which is average.
- Otherwise the staff are really friendly and the whole place is clean. But for $600/night? I think you'd be better trying to book a room down the road at the other Bannister's.
Definitely worth a booking at Rick Steins, the free shuttle is convenient.
We are on our way back from a wonderful weekend at Bannisters Pavilion with a big smile on our faces. It lived up to all our expectations and more: fabulous and friendly staff, a comfortable room with everything you need and just a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. The joys of a boutique hotel. The food was delicious and we couldn’t fault a single thing, including the breakfast that came with our deal. We thought the food and wine was good value. We even managed a couple of hours around the pool to soak up that holiday feel. Next time I’d ask which rooms are best positioned - we had a car park view. Not particularly aesthetically pleasing but not really an issue either. Would highly recommend a stay. We ate at Bannisters Rick Stein restaurant too, which was also great. But I think we preferred the relaxed vibe of the Pavillion.
The cheapest bottle of white wine is $62. A "can" of Balter is $15. I don't like to rate rate places on their pricing but it's the highlight of the experience. The food is very expensive and nothing special. The wait staff are lovely and make you feel welcome..
Can't speak for the hotel but the restaurant is not worth your time.
You would think when you book the penthouse suite for 1 night that you wouldn't need to bring your own toiletries, especially when luxury toiletries are mentioned as being provided , but NO ! the shower gel ,shampoo and lotion dispensers were all empty, no cold water or drinks in the fridge and no spare pillows, very disappointing, nice enough room, and the bathroom was lovely , but not worth the money , especially after having to drive to a supermarket at 9 at night to buy things that were suppose to be provided. Cmon bannisters do better 😒
There are set times to eat, not a problem but we had to stop wait staff twice - once to take our drinks order and the second time to take our meals order. Plenty of staff and all were pleasant when we requested assistance. We found the lack of servicing us strange as we were on their deadline.
Meals were ok. Maybe I just expected too much. We only had mains.
Venue was lovely.
This place is BEAUTIFUL - good value. Freshly done, all nice and new. There is a rooftop bar, restaurant and pool. They have room service. Wifi has been a bit patchy, but not too bad. Room is super comfy and private. Rick Stein’s restaurant is around the corner and there is a shuttle. Parking is far away from the rooms, so you need a luggage thingy to take all your bags up. Fluffy dressing gowns and slippers in the room. Lovely styling. Friendly check in - and service in general has been terrific.
It is a gorgeous venue and has a great aesthetic, full table service or you can scan a QR code, but definitely book ahead the walk in tables are really nice but fill up quickly. Marg was good just a little bit sweet for me, a little heavy on the Cointreau/simple syrup however people I was with liked it so that’s just personal taste. Staff friendly and it’s cool there is a pool on the roof. Definitely worth a visit. If you know Sydney then I’d say it has Coogee Pav vibes. Bannisters seems to have a bunch of Venues in the area and I can’t wait to check them all out.
